SDGs and Youth Engagement

FOPCHEN empowers African youth through cultural heritage preservation and environmental sustainability. We believe young people are key to building resilient communities and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our programs equip youth with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Preserve their cultural heritage
  • Become environmental stewards
  • Lead their communities toward a sustainable future

Our Key Focus Areas

  1. Youth and Cultural Heritage Preservation: We engage young people in projects documenting and protecting Africa’s rich cultural heritage. Our initiatives focus on educating the next generation about the importance of cultural identity, tradition, and the role of heritage in sustainable development.
  2. Environmental Sustainability: Youth are at the forefront of promoting environmental sustainability in our programs. We provide training on renewable energy, particularly through our Solar Training Program, which teaches young people how to install and maintain solar PV systems, contributing to a cleaner, greener future for Africa.
  3. Leadership in Sustainable Development: Our programs aim to cultivate future leaders by giving youth the tools and knowledge they need to advocate for their communities, engage with the SDGs, and lead projects that focus on cultural preservation, climate action, and sustainable growth.

Africa Culture Club

As part of our SDG and Youth Engagement strategy, FOPCHEN is excited to launch the Africa Culture Club initiative across secondary schools throughout Africa. The goal of the club is to inspire young Africans to embrace their cultural heritage, learn about the diverse traditions across the continent, and actively engage in cultural preservation efforts.

The Africa Culture Club offers a platform for students to celebrate African history, music, dance, literature, and languages while promoting the values of sustainability, leadership, and cultural pride. Through this initiative, students will also contribute to achieving the SDGs by engaging in community-based projects that align with environmental sustainability, heritage preservation, and education.
